I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and I started my dance story from an early age with Flamenco and modern jazz, later focusing on hip-hop, jazz and salsa.
My longest and dearest love affair has been Bellydance, which I have been studying and practicing for 17 years.
My formation in the Tribal Style world started with Fusion and my personal style has been shaped by studying with great teachers such as:
Jill Parker, Katarina Burda, Donna Mejía, Mardi Love, Sharon Kihara, Kami Liddle, Samantha Emmanuel, Abigail Keyes, Lila Zellet Elías, Terry Walden, Heather Stands and Rose Harden, who have inspired my growth and evolution. I’ve also trained intensively in several occasions with Zoe Jakes, Suhaila Salimpour and Carolena Nericcio directly at their studios in San Francisco, CA. I have decided to complement my education with Classical Ballet, japanese Butoh, Contemporary dance, Hip Hop, Flamenco and salsa, styles I practice and study as frequently as possible.
I discovered Improvisational Tribal Style in 2004 in a VHS tape that was brought to me as a gift from California and fell in love with it! In 2009 I officially started to teach Improvisation and Tribal Fusion Bellydance in the city of Guadalajara, Mexico. Being the first to offer classes in both styles.
I traveled to San Francisco to get ATS® General Skills Certified in 2010 and decided to take the time to get the whole format into my muscle memory and experience in teaching it before I took the step to become a FatChanceBellydance® SISTER STUDIO in 2015. From the beginning I set a clear objective for myself to promote and teach this beautiful art form as it really is. I have had the privilege and responsibility to help many dancers in their path, shaping and influencing many of them and their tribes all throughout Mexico. I have also had the chance to share my work and vision in other countries like Costa Rica and currently in Spain.
