Wendee started her dance journey in 2009 when she started attending a weekly class offered by Boston dancers Erzulie and Serene under the auspices of the local branch of The Society for Creative Anachronism. She learned to play zills, spoons, calpara, doumbek, frame drum, and riqq while also learning Middle Eastern movement for choreography and improv, as well as performance skills.
In 2010, she joined her teachers on a Folk Tours Music & Dance Retreat and took ATS® workshops for the first time. Within a year, she focused her studies on American Tribal Style® under Sara Ford. She later studied with Cecile Carr and other former members of the late, great troupe OmBellyCo. She was a founding member of Ki-Ra Luna in 2012. She and her partner in Ki-Ra Luna perform together, separately, and with other local ATS®
She completed General Skills Classic and Modern in January 2015 and Teacher Training in November 2015.
She can often be found in other teacher’s classes around New England, working on the basics. She travels to workshops whenever she can.
